This project-based course explores language as cultural heritage through topics related to the British Isles. Working in groups of three, students design a Project Kit for a Year 7 class at a Gemeinschaftsschule in Baden-Württemberg. Each Project Kit consists of a complete teaching unit of three double lessons, linked to a topic and relevant learning objectives in Orange Line 3.
The unit combines Cultural Heritage education, applied linguistics, English as a Threshold Language, and tasks that connect the topic to pupils’ own languages and cultural experiences. Each Project Kit includes a Delightex VR environment and an eTwinning component with a group of pupils in Sweden.
In January, the VR environments and selected preparatory activities are tested with the whole Year 7 class. This takes place without eTwinning and with only a brief introduction.
Virtual Exchanges with partners in Crete and Tallinn will take place at the start of the course.
